The chickadee invasion notwithstanding, other species seemingly are enjoying the mild temperatures and promise of summer. Following are a few of the back yard creatures I spotted over the past few days, including this drowsy squirrel.
A handsome male cardinal.
This appears to be an appropriately named “yellow-rumped warbler,” a bird I’ve never recognized as a back yard visitor. I am hoping for a return appearance.
One of the many hawks that frequent our neighborhood kept its distance, making photography difficult.
Another shot of the female cardinal from the previous post.
And, plenty of chickadees.
